I like the amount of character in the image. I like child’s presence without showing her face being a device to expand on the character of the father/grandfather. Even though the male is present in the second image the image becomes about the child.
Thanks Mark, it’s good to hear your take on this image. I definitely agree about the second image being stolen by the child and that the top one is much stronger.
I included both in the post as this blog is more about an overview of the project and a chance for the subjects to see their images, than any critical choice of the works by the artist – thus so many being included. That is by no means a deflection of the ideas of your response, more just by way of explanation in general.

I think the top one is my personal fav so far. Interesting that you don’t have the subjects look directly into the camera.
